Qualified Behavioral Health Provider (QBHP) Job Summary
QBHPs are service extenders. That means the QBHP (Qualified Behavioral Health Provider)
assists the client in reinforcing through review and practice the skills the client learns or
develops in therapy sessions with the MHP. QBHPs also obtain information about the client
from collateral contacts to provide to the treatment team. The QBHP interventions for each
client is written on that client’s treatment plan and in the Plan section of the MHP’s progress
notes. Details and specifics should be regularly communicated between MHP & QBHP and
documented in the client’s chart.
QBHP Duties and Responsibilities
The QBHP will provide all of the following:
- Serves as part of the client’s treatment team,
- Completes necessary training to become certified as a QBHP,
- Provides professionally appropriate transportation as necessary to accomplish treatment goals,
- Makes necessary referrals and serves as liaison with other agencies,
- Provides timely documentation to support services rendered and provides written reports as
- required by other agencies (i.e. DCFS, legal system, etc.),
- Builds support network around client by working with authorized collateral sources such as
- parents, teachers, or other community agencies as appropriate,
- Provides clinical supportive interventions according to treatment plan on an off-site basis,
- Ensures client’s attendance to initial medication evaluation and subsequent medication
- appointments,
- Supports medical records’ staff in securing PCP referral in a timely manner if needed, as well as
- any other information needed for the patient’s chart,
- Schedules QBHP Supervision and Observations as outlined by company policy– MHP will be
- responsible for meeting with QBHP, if assigned, to supervise once weekly (3 times) and to
- observe the QBHP working with a patient for a minimum of 15 minutes and document the
- observation once per month. It is the QBHP’s responsibility to set up the
- supervision/observation,
- Documents all QBHP Supervision and Observation in the EMR system to be reviewed and signed
- by MHP,
- Establishes positive relationship with client, family, and their support network,
- Models stability for client and family with regular sessions,
- Empower client to improve day to day functionality, reducing stressors and increasing ability to
- focus on treatment goals,
- Encourages client compliance with established treatment plan,
- Review Caseload Compliance QBHP report at a frequency that will ensure clients are up to date
- on all compliance issues and are tiered appropriately for QBHP services,
- Monitors/reports client behavior in all environments,
- Attends all required clinic meetings,
- Testifies in court as required,
- QBHP will put exact times on all services billed, and
- Other duties as assigned.

LICENSED MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL
THERAPIST JOB SUMMARY
The therapist will be responsible for helping manage and overcome mental and emotional issues. The therapist will listen to consumers and ask questions to help understand his/her needs/issues/life circumstances and to develop strategies to improve his/her life. The therapist will diagnose, treat and help patients create coping strategies, will counsel, listen, support, and monitor the patient for progress. The therapist will work with individuals/groups and will help provide community resources to consumers.
THERAPIST DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The therapist will perform all of the following:
- Diagnosing clients mental and emotional disorders
- Working and Counseling groups, communities, and individual clients
- Evaluating clients through conversations, interviews, and observations to determine correct testing or examination
- Developing treatment plan that may include counseling, medication, or other services
- Setting clients goals and discussing a treatment plan
- Encouraging, supporting, and listening to clients
- Helping clients discuss experiences and emotions
- Assisting clients through difficult life changes and challenges
- Educating the clients on strategies and coping skills
- Referring clients to resources like treatment facilities or community services
- Accessing clients’ needs, and developing strategies to help the client
- Maintaining good working relationships with support networks, government resources, and community resources
- Advising and guiding clients through difficult decisions
- Helping clients with a variety of issues such as substance abuse, bullying, anger management, depression, relationships, stress, and suicide
- MHP will put exact times on all services provided
